We are a specialist letting agency set up with the express intention of supply a dedicated letting service for the undergraduate and post graduate market in St Andrews.
We opened for business in December 2003 and have built a reputation and portfolio slowly over the last ten and a half years. We now have a staff of six – 3 full time and 3 part time which allows us to concentrate on our core business which is to look after student property in St Andrews on behalf of our clients while at the same time ensuring that we can meet the needs of our tenants (which can be many and varied!).
Has worked in the lettings industry for nearly 15 years. Background in both sales and Territorial Army commanding on a full time basis the local Royal Engineer Squadron based at RAF Leuchars before retiring and joining a local firm of Lawyers running the maintenance department of the lettings section for three and a half years. He is currently a member of the Council of Letting Agents Steering Committee active in developing the new codes of practice and legislation for the regulation of letting Agents of which he is a firm believer.
Has worked with Town and Gown for the last 8 years as the administration manager having spent 15 years with the NHS working in admin.
Susan and her husband have been landlords for many years and Susan worked alongside Michael at his previous firm. Susan joined Town and Gown in 2009 and works part time as our in house HMO expert (being along with Michael one of St Andrews most experienced HMO agents) as well as running our safety checks and maintenance along with Michael and Rory.
Admin assistance – Janet works with Jane and is responsible for our lease writing, in the summer she deals with all the utility matters and council tax. Her background was insurance and so is also our resident go to for all our insurance matters.
Sheena is our office fixer. Anything that needs sorting out, replacing, checking or cleaning can be sorted by Sheena. In addition Sheena is one of our inspection team and tenants are likely to meet her, Rory or Michael on the monthly inspections.
Rory currently is developing his skills in the industry. He has complete the Chartered Institute of Housing level 2 and is working towards level 3. He works mainly with Michael and Susan on the maintenance side of the business but can usually help and advise on matters pertaining to Town and Gown.
